Housing is tight at F.E. Warren.  80% of all PCS arrivals (officer and enlisted) must live off-base! 

Nearly 6,000 air force personnel and another 5,000 dependents are stationed here.  But there are only 942 housing units on-base!  And many of those are closed for major renovations or lead-based paint and asbestos abatement. 

Competition for quality housing!  Don't expect a huge selection of housing and don't wait until the last minute to start looking for a home in Cheyenne!  This is a small community of about 50,000 people and there is a severe shortage of nice living space.  My best advice is plan ahead.  Make housing arrangements before arriving in town.  The information and contacts on this page will be quite helpful.  Click on any blue link for more information. If you'll be at F.E. Warren for at least three years, you should consider buying.  Homes are appreciating nicely here.  Three-bedroom homes range from $120,000 to $200,000, depending on location, school district, age, structure, acreage and design.  At 6%, the mortgage on a $150,000 loan is less than $900/month.  Your Realtor will be a big help.  She'll be able to work with you or USAA or introduce you to experienced local VA lenders.  It's really pretty quick and easy.
